The Gap 2012

I went to this "campference" called The Gap. Let me briefly explain what we do in this "campference".
The Gap is a conference and camp mixed together to become something very awesome. Like, we do 'Storytelling with a biblical edge through visual media'. Which means we work with photography and videography to make something amazing. Anyway, since I have a lot to write about, I'll be stating only the highlights. Enjoy :)

December 3 2012, Monday: Day 1

I think I woke up at around 6: something. And I was super excited! I was kinda worried that I wasn't going because I was really sick the night before. But I was super happy when I woke up and I was completely alright! I reached church and I said 'hi' to all my friends. Bekah, Abby and Sam were there. And it was great. I ate breakfast there (Sandwiches!) And then we all went into the hall. We started off with worship and some introductions. But you see, they didn't give us our name tags at the registration and I was wondering why. Another thing that was weird was that I saw name tags under my chair.  I found out why after worship. We had to find our own name tags by walking around and asking people for them, while finding the person whose name was on the name tag under your chair. Make sense? Moving on. Anyway, the name on the name tag under my chair was Andrew Ong. I kinda knew this guy, but finding him was really hard. I finally found him later and he said 'thanks'. I found mine later too. It was lying on a chair. Untouched. :(

I sat back down on my seat and we went through the first two sessions! We even got to Skype with this visual media person named Melody Warford. That's right. All the way from Texas. We had lunch afterwards (chicken rice!) And then we learned scriptwriting. I found out who my team members were. Because, by this time, we put out tables where each team would sit. And the teams were named after production studios (e.g. Universal Studios, MGM, Warner Bros., 20th Century Fox etc.) And my team was *drum roll* Disney. Yep. But I loved my team members! They were: Abby, Bekah, Miracle, Andrea, Andrew, Justin, Nick, Nicholas, Darick, David, Josh and Tracey! Excitement! After the lesson, we discussed things. Because at this campference, every team would have to make a video with a plot to show on Presentation Night. The last day. And out topic was children. Underestimated and marginalised children. This topic wasn't as easy as it sounded.

Anyway, We then had our tea break and discussed some more then went back into the hall to learn camera techniques. This was super important, because my team was doing photography and we had to learn how to control the lighting and all that. But the most exciting part about this session was  that Prakash Daniel (Famous YouTuber in Equestria) came to teach us! It was sooo exciting. Later after the session, he asked some questions and I answered one and he gave me a beautiful notebook! It had this lovely velvet cover that was sooo soft. It was lovely. Anyway, after that, we had dinner. And it was Pizza! It was sooo good, especially after the long sessions. my team ate seven boxes, and now, I really love pepperoni. After the very filling boxes of pizza, my team members went to change. Why? because, we were going to have Games Night! Our leader (Tracey) told us that we were going to need to change into black clothes because we were going to get really wet. So everyone changed and then Ian told us a few rules, and we started! We went to the concourse and collected our file, then ran to Siu Fai, our first gamemaster. First we did our GAP Cheer. Which went like this: G-A-P GAP! has been bridged! OLOOLOOOOOLOOOLOOLOLOLLOOOL!!!
So we did that, and our first game was to blow this piece of tissue to a certain point without letting it touch the floor. At some point, the tissue landed and on my face... and I couldn't breathe. But after that we went to the second station and what we had to do was get three team members to stand in a line. And the other members, two at a time have to throw water balloons at the three members till they get wet. But the maximum amount of balloons allowed to be used was 30. So Me, Abby and Andrea stood in a line. I got shot at the pelvis. Abby got shot at her stomach, and Andrea got shot in the head. Poor girl. The third game was just nonsense. We had to circle this cone 10 times and the run out and sit on a water balloon. Our goal was to find 3 peanuts, hidden in the water balloons.
And we continued on. But our last game was the hardest. We all sat in a line, and then, you had to put your legs in front of the person in front of you, and hold the legs of the person behind you, and use your butt to move between a series of cones and back. It was HORRIBLE! And while you were advancing through the cones, the gamemasters would run around you and hose you with water and pour flour all over your head and face and everything! Halfway through the game, I just let go of the person behind me's legs. And continued. I was quite happy that it was over. After the last game, We all sat in the parking lot and Ian announce the winners. After that we all went home. I later discovered that I had flour caked all over in my scalp. And it wasn't very pleasant. But the next day, Andrew asked for my number. AHAHA.

December 4 2012, Tuesday : Day 2

I woke up again! And the usual repeated. Breakfast, worship, lectures, lunch. We discussed what we were going to do for our video and I took out my Mac. And we did a little research. And later on we had lunch. But today wasn't just any ordinary day. Because today, some of the most famous YouTubers in Equestria were coming to answer questions! YouTubers like Dan Khoo, Bryan Lim, Prakash Daniel and Charis Ow! They answered a lot of questions. And soon, the session ended. I got all their autographs and took photos with them! Very awesome I tell you. After that we had dinner, discussion, another session and we went home.

December 5 2012, Wednesday : Day 3
Today, We spent most of the time discussing.. So there isn't much to talk about. But, as we talked , Nicholas asked me to text him. So, it was cool. :D

December 6 2012, Thursday: Day 4
WOOT! Today was especially exciting! We were shooting for our video! We had planned much of our video the day before. We were going to feature my two sisters as the two children in the video. And we were having Joshua and Miracle as the parents. It was super fun shooting everything because, we were having Nick act as a beggar and it was awesome messing him up! (Pictures coming up) After we shot our video, we went back to edit it. Well, it was mostly me who edited it. But we were super excited, because we had done so well with the photos! Anyway, editing it was really fun. And hard. It did get really frustrating. And I went home at 10:00PM. I was so tired! But I had to plan my outfit for the next day. Because we were going to have a presentation night, and the dress code was SMART. And I didn't have many smart clothing. But I managed to find something nice in the end. I went to bed EXHAUSTED.

December 7 2012, Friday : Day 5
I was really, really excited! Because, today was presentation night, and we were going to finalize the video! When I got there, I had breakfast, worship, and it was back to editing. 4 hours of heavy editing was really hard. But, I was so glad when I completed everything at 3PM. That's right. From 10:30 AM to 3 PM. That was how long. After 3, I just spent the whole day relaxing and facebooking and playing tetris with Darick. At around 5:PM, I went to change into my smart clothing. And Abby was like "OMG! you look great!" And Darick, and all the others went to change, too. The fun part was watching Marie style everyone's hair. And ti was funny because Nick's hair would keep going down when Marie tried to make him look like Goku. Then She did Andrew's hair and all the other's. It was sooo funny. Anyway, we went down to the first floor where we were told that there was a photo booth. So we all took wacky photos and it was awesome. But dinner was great! There was spaghetti and fish and chicken and salad. It was great. But it was so fun forcing Tracey to eat cheese tarts, and making Nick laugh. Cuz his laugh is soo weird. Like. He literally laughs like this "HAHAHA". Sooner or later, It was presentations night! They showed our videos and I really felt like crying. I also went up to give a testimony. I was also touched when my team was like "WOOOO! GO FAITH!" :')
The whole thing was just magical.

I was quite sad that it was over. But I'm really glad that I went.

Here is the video my team made :) Pictures to come, later!

KTHXBYE
