Psalm 139:14
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Hey girl, you need to lose weight. I think you should starve yourself and skip your meals. You've gotta fit in with the crowd. You can't do that when you can't fit into that pair of teal green skinny jeans.
Your face. Got a problem with it? Why not, put foundation and concealer to cover up that terrible acne that you're really supposed to have?
Ooh, sister, you need loads of mascara and eyeliner, your eyes are shameful. Please use these contacts to make your eyes larger, too, ASIAN.
Those clothes. Hey, Chinese New Year's over and you've got loads of Ang Paos! Why not blow everything on new designer clothes when you're really supposed to save your money for your college funds?
I thought that I'd open up with a verse for a change and a few examples of things that that little voice in our head tells us almost every time.
Self esteem, something that teenagers have a tough time dealing with. We can blame society for this.
You see, we live in a skinny induced world that only thinks that looks are the things that really matter. And a lot of us fail to realize that this is not true. Of course, some of us are naturally skinny and can do nothing about it, but some of us are less lucky. And there are a lot of girls who are also pretty at first glance, but there are others that are just.. average.
Okay guys, I'm going straight to the point here. Kinda. I know not all of us go through this, but I do know of a lot of girls and sometimes guys that go through this.
Sometimes we can't blame the person. Sometimes, it's because of the way he or she was brought up, sometimes it's because of the way the parents treat them, and other times they just have nobody to turn to.
We always worry about wether our hair looks good, or wether our clothes make us look great. Sometimes we spend so much time worrying about our appearances that we miss out doing other stuff that are way more important. But you see, we should be happy with what God has give us. And sometimes the looks don't matter at all, and it's the character that really counts.
Sure, some of us think that our bodies are less than perfect, and we make matters worse by comparing ourselves to girls on magazine covers, but we aren't doing ourselves justice. The point is, we were made to be who we are. And in God's eyes, we are perfect to him, because he made us, and God doesn't ever make mistakes. Besides, there's probably someone that's falling in love with you, and not just with how you look, but because of your personality. So don't ever change or feel bad with your face, or your body, or anything. You're perfect in His eyes. Just remember that.
Thanks for reading this, guys :)
