The end of last week and the beginning of this week has been very memorable.
Thursday, Friday and Saturday were the dates for VBS 2013. Usually, I would be part of the huge crowd of little kids that would be supervised by the older kids. But now it was the other way round. Well. I mean, this year, I got to supervise the kids instead! Well, not really supervise I was helping with the photography. But yeah you get the point. It was really, really cool. It was cool because Darick came back to help (some of you might remember him from the Gap), some of my photos got featured during lunchtime for all to see, and everything just went really, really well. I formed new friendships, and met so many nice people. Definitely memorable. Unfortunately I will not be writing about each day because A LOT of things happened during the three days. But all I can say is that I had a lot a lot of fun. Haha, it was also fun walking everywhere with a DSLR and snapping photos of little kids. (cuteness to the max, man.)
The downside of VBS was that I had to miss two days of school. But oh well, it's not everyday that I get to be a helper. Besides, last year I wasn't an official helper, but this year I was legit helping out. It was awesome. The thing that I find most awesome is that I grew closer the some of my friends. For example Andrew. He and I were kinda average, but during VBS we talked A LOT, laughed A LOT and well, bonded. I also got to know Jun Jie, Adrian and a few other people a lot better too. Turns out Jun Jie and Adrian are super nice. Oh, and Darick, too. :')
And the girls? I don't need to say anything. I'd always been close to them. I'd always been close with Bekah and Abby and Sam and of course, Tjia Yi, but VBS helped to knit us closer together. Yes, VBS was definitely very tiring and we often found ourselves complaining about how annoying and restless some of the kids were. It's true, some of them were really, really hard to keep control of. But in the end I guess we all kinda agreed that it was most definitely worth it in some way or another. Life-changing, maybe. Cause we realised that we, too, were once annoying, restless 6-year-olds.
The last day of VBS was bittersweet. It was sweet because finally we didn't need to deal with kids anymore and we could also sleep in the next day. But it was also bitter because we'd have to wait a whole year before we can experience this again. Though we took A LOT of photos so I guess it doesn't really matter ahahha.
To all those who helped out with VBS, this post is dedicated to you. :')
OH YES OH YES. Before I forget, I also got to watch Catching Fire with Ann, Josh, Nathanael, Jack, Isaac and Megan! IT WAS AWESOME. Probs because the movie was at 11:40 PM and we finished and like 2:00 AM and the mall was completely deserted. It was cool but scary at the same time. Catching Fire was amazing. So much better than the first movie. The script, the cinematography, everything. And Jennifer Lawrence's acting. Perfect. Gosh, it was such a good movie. And the fact that I got to watch it with some of my favourite people was just really great. :')
Sunday
*skips to Sunday night because it was beautiful*
Late. I was running very very late. I was supposed to be there at 6:30 PM but I'd only reach an hour later. That night was the night of the Whodunnit dinner. A dinner organised by Josh which involved a crime solving game throughout the evening, and some of the JPS people were part of it. Apparently I was supposed to leave the house at 5:00 PM but then my mom wanted to wait for my dad to come home, so we had to draagggg on until 7:00 PM. This was bad because I was the main character for the entire game. Being late would mean to delay everything.
Thank goodness though, I finally arrived at 7:30. A whole hour late. T_T
I felt so so so bad. It was a good thing that everyone had started eating first.
Let me tell you this, the food was great.
Anyway, the game was basically about how this aviatrix extraordinaire (as Josh calls it) called Constance Perflinger (me) found this rare thing called the Meepledeep weed, (no it has nothing to do with drugs) and it was something that scientists from all over the world had been looking for. (the story is placed in the 1920s) So Constance holds an auction, and three groups of scientists compete to get the weed. In the end, one group-the Darwins, (Onysha and Becky) wins the auction by bidding 8 million pounds for the weed. (HAHAH) After that, a whole blubbery something happens and Constance is in trouble or something. Then, I get murdered, and the goal of the game is to find out who killed me. There are a lot of other characters in the game. Isaac and Kevin, and Ashvina and Asha are the other scientists that were bidding for the weed. (AHHAAH) AND BECAUSE EXPLAINING THE REST IS SO SO COMPLICATED, I'm just going to tell you that Arathi's character killed me. :(
In conclusion though, the whole night was just really, really great. The food was great. The game was great. The people were great. Everything was great.
Alas, the night had to end, and after saying bye to some people, (Holtbys especially because I had absolutely no idea when I'd ever see them again) Ann sent me home. Yes, you read that right. Ann can now drive. And she drove me home. (so proud of you, Ann)
Yes. So I guess that's it.
Sigh.
The only photo I took at the Whodunnit. Dedicating this part to you guys! ^ Keep being awesome, okay? :)
xx.
