The Crossing 2013 - part 1

Hello guys I am back from camp! :D

Goodness this year camp was definitely an awesome experience. Much greatness.

So yeah I'm gonna write about what happened on each day in "today-tense". Not present tense, but "today-tense". Enjoy.

Thursday
I woke up at about 6:30 AM today and my dad sent my to church once I was done dressing and getting some additional stuff ready cause I had to be at church at 7:30.

When I reached church, I registered and and went to look for someone that I knew, and I found Tjia Yi! We talked and then later moved to Hall 2 cause everyone just so happened to be there. Then at 9:00 we all got ready to get on the bus! We were all really excited. When we got on the bus, I sat next to Tjia Yi, Andrea and Anna sat in front, and Bri (and Aileen?) sat on the row next to us. We spent half  the trip singing songs and stuff like that and it was fun. Then I spent the other half zoning out with music, which was nice.

We finally arrived our destination (which I'm calling WindyFoggyMisty for security reasons) at around 11:30 AM. And dangggg it was cold. If you must know, WindyFoggyMisty is a mountain. Anyway, we went into the hall to warm up a bit, and a lot of the other campers were already there. After settling down, a dude everyone calls Mike Chang came up to welcome us and to explain some rules and such. After like 45 mins of that we all went downstairs to eat lunch. Which was good. After lunch was games! We al changed into gamey clothes because we all knew we were gonna get very dirty. After changing we all went back to the hall to sort ourselves into our groups. Then we spent the next 30 minutes getting to know our group members, coming up with a team cheer and such. This year's theme was superheroes and the name of my group was Wimpy Wonderwoman. Ya. I know. But all the teams had weird group names with weird adjectives like Hippie Hulk or Whimsical Wolverine or Chinese Captain America. Ya.

After all that stuff, the games started! Now, the games were in stations, and what we'd have to do was to complete all the stations and collect "money" for something else later. The downside was that we could only do the station once. So if we failed, that would be it. We had 14 stations to complete in two hours, which actually wasn't a lot of time since some of the stations were pretty hard. To cut the two-hour-long story short, we failed a couple stations but passed a lot of them, which was good! In the end we collected 205 "moneys" or whatever they're called. Haha. After games we were all allowed to go shower and change and get ready for dinner. Bad news, by the time I got back to my dorm, the showers were ALL FULL for the entire hour. I had to shower after dinner. D: However some people suffered the same fate like me, so heh, it didn't really matter.

At 6:30 PM I adjourned to the cafeteria along with Tjia Yi and some other gals to eat dinner. Dinner was pretty good! We had fish and steamed egg and veggies, yep. I quickly ate and by the time I got to the showers, they were mostly empty! The shower was heavenly. After that I dressed and walked back to my dorm, clean as a whistle and decided to make my bed. You see, all the dorms consisted of about 8 bunk beds and we had to put the sheets and everything ourselves. So I did that before I got lazy or anything. I lazed around a bit. I talked to some people a bit. Then I think I went outside to hang around in the cold. Which was nice. At 8:00 PM we went to the hall for our night session and it was coollddd. It was a good thing I brought along my jacket.

Session was good! Pr. Alex was sharing the message and worship was really good. However I was really exhausted and could barely keep my eyes open. Aahha, the moment I changed and reached my bed I fell asleep almost immediately. Well, that was only after my friends dragged my outside into the night when it was HORRENDOUSLY WINDY AND COLD AND FOGGY AND I WAS WEARING NOTHING BUT SHORTS AND A T SHIRT. Why. Why. It was horrid but fun at the same time. Hah. You could literally hear the wind.

Friday
I woke at around 6:46 and decided to lay in bed to 7:30, which was the time we were all supposed to be up. When 7:30 came, I jumped out of bed and yelled, "GOOD MORNING BEAUTIFUL SUNSHINES." which woke most of my dormies up. AHAHHA. I went to dress and get ready for devotion, which we had downstairs at the lobby.

I could barely stay awake during devotion. I kept yawning, I couldn't concentrate, gosh I was dead tired. But I managed to carry on. Each dorm was doing devotions on their own, and towards the end of my dorm's devotion, I noticed Darick and Jun Jie from the other dorm staring at me, which I found kinda weird. When devotion ended, they came after me and Darick was like, "Did you shout 'Good morning beautiful sunshines' this morning?" then I laughed and said yeah. And then he was all "ooohh makes sense." And then I asked him how he heard me and he said he was taking a walk outside and he heard someone shout something. (that was me, of course) It seemed that Tjia Yi's dorm heard me, too. I am powerful.

Anyway, I headed upstairs for breakfast, and once that was done we had our second session, then the first workshop. For our first workshop we had a few women from a ministry in my church called WOW and they were here to talk to the girls while a group of men went to give a talk to the guys. For the girls we discussed things like self-worth and how to respect a guy and things like that. We even had a little session that was kinda like "support group" where some girls shared their problems about how they feel about themselves and I thought it was really good because you know it's pretty hard to be a teen in this day and age. Then we had a Q&A then it was off to lunch.

After lunch we had this thing called "talent time prep" where we were supposed to plan and practise our skit for "talent time" on the third day. All the groups had to do a skit, and we were all assigned a different story from the Bible with a designated genre to go with the story. For example, my group got Paul and The Road To Damascus and our genre was action. We spent the entire time planning the skit, and by the end, we had everything sorted out, and we were excited. Very excited. AND  THEN, it was games again! The games were like yesterday's. Our first task was to solve a Sudoku puzzle, which was horrid. We took a good 40 mins to solve it. While solving the puzzle we had these leaders in sunglasses that we all called "villians" and they will steal your things or bring you to "prison" where you have to pay to get out, and we had to protect our stuff. A few times my group had to get up and run from the villians, but most of the time it was okay.

Once we were FINALLy done we spent the next hour running around completing stations. We did things like building a human pyramid (I was the base), dunking our heads in cold water, making an egg parachute and stuff like that. However we didn't get to finish all the stations which was kinda sad. Once our time was up we all headed back to our dorms to change and freshen up. Then it was dinner, and then Session three, another outing into the cold wind and sleeeeepppp.

To be continued in part 2.
