HELLO THERE FOLKS. It is currently 1 AM in the morning. I am going to write this post now because I know that if I don't, I never will. And this post is important, probably why I've been putting it off for two days. Anyway, as the title has already suggested, I am going to write about this year's CNY. Which was unbelievably awesome. A brief description of my CNY: before this year's CNY my mom's side of the family had been planning for a gathering in KL instead of Sarawak, which is where we usually meet. So my fourth uncle, had put together an awesome trip to Port Dickson, which is a very beachy place with chalets, hotels and of course, beaches. We stayed at a water chalet fairly well-known as Avillion and it was really great. It was great because my cousins and aunties and uncles from E.M were coming over, and my uncle and aunty were coming back from HK and also a few more of my relatives from the land Down Under. This is probably why it was one of the most meaningful CNYs I've ever experienced.
On Thursday, which was the day we were all leaving to PD, each and everyone of us met at my third uncle's house. Everyone was running around, loading luggages into car booths, making sure any cousins, or nieces or nephews didn't get left behind and all that stuff. We'd already got to meet up with each other the day before, and that was really nice cause I rarely ever get to see my cousins, and meeting them, plus spending 3 days and 2 nights with them at a beautiful resort was probably one of the best things to do for CNY. They day before I'd got to reunite with Joshua (who I was the closest to when we were much younger and before he and his family moved to another continent), Jonathan (Joshua's older brother), Sherilyn (Jon and Josh's older sister), Chris, Nicholas and Alex, and of course Elaine, Eilene (who are twins) and Melanie (who we all call Jin Jin, cause that's like her nickname) These cousins were basically single and below-thirty ones.
So yeap after all that checking we all climbed into our cars and drove four about 1-2 hours to our getaway place. When we arrived, we were greeted with smiling staff and a very pretty lobby that looked more on the exotic, rustic-y type than the first class, air-conditioned, carpeted type. Which was cool. We all went to have lunch at the resort's restaurant first cause our rooms weren't ready yet. One thing I have to say, the resort's food isn't really good. Like the only thing I enjoyed (cause it was a buffet-style kinda thing) was the mutton and that's it. But oh well haha. After eating we waited some more for at least an hour. We used this time to mingle around, take photos and all that cool stuff. FINALLY though, we finally got our key cards and could go to our rooms. Now I must tell you, the resort is not at all like a hotel. There are no lifts that lead you to your room, no. First you gotta walk on this pathway, and the rooms are all divided into little sections like, Cochin, Tumasek, Acheh and all that. And each sections spreads out into about 20-30 villas/rooms. Our section (Tumasek) was the last. But it didn't really matter because the path was surrounded by loads and loads of trees and plants which made the walk bearable, and we were the closest to the beach, which was pretty awesome.
Goodness, the rooms, children, the rooms. Again, not your average hotel room. Our room had three beds, one corner one that could fit two people and looked the comfiest, and two single beds with these bed posts where you could hang these lovely lacy curtain things on, but for some reason, our room didn't have any lacy curtain things to hang, so the posts were empty. But all of them were equally comfy. (of course the corner one looked just a wee bit comfier than the rest) We also had a little balcony area that had a great view of the sea and the beach, and the bathroom. Oh the bathroom was splendid. There was a shower area with a pebbly floor, and next to it was a little balcony thing, where you looked down there was the green sea, with nothing but a few wooden poles laid across from the opposite wall to the balcony to prevent anyone from falling into the water, which I found slightly terrifying. Then there was a bathtub, a secluded toilet, and two sinks. Very pretty.
I decided to take a nap, then afterwards my sisters and I went to the beach awhile, where we were later joined by with Alex and Lee Kiat (his brother). Eve and I built sandcastles and waded in the salty water. At that time I didn't have a suit on and only was dressed in a pair of shorts and a t-shirt which I did not want to get wet in. It's a good thing I didn't haha. Then later Jon, Jin Jin, Elaine, Eliene and Sherilyn came by, and took us to the pool, where I just sat by and watched. I decided I didn't want to swim that day. After all the watery hulabaloo, I headed back to my room with my sisters and took another nap.
Later that day we had a dinner. It was really nice, it was like a 12 dish meal kinda thing, and we had performances (which I also took part in), speeches, a raffles draw and all that stuff. The food was good, the company was good. (cause I sat at the cousins table) We talked a lot, and I told my awesome (or as some people might say: lame) jokes which received many groans, which I secretly enjoyed. But now that I've told you I enjoyed it, it's no longer a secret. Dangit. Then after dinner, some of us headed to Jon, Josh and Sherilyn's villa to hang out a bit. I brought my ukulele, the twins brought their guitar, and for some weird reason, Jin Jin said that we should do a Foo Chow (my tribe) parody of The Fox. Which we all agreed to, and started to write lyrics for, and that was really awesome. We jammed a bit. Talked a bit. Did awesome stuff a bit. It was great. Then when it hit 12 AM, we all had to go back to our rooms, which I really looked forward to, cause after my nap, I was really excited to be in bed, and having my head sink into the resort's pillows, which are amazing soft and fluffy. I was so ready for the next day.
Continued in part two.
